FSSAI Registration is mandatory for petty food manufacturers or the FBO having a turnover of less than Rs.12 lakhs unless the FBO is covered under compulsory licensing.
Required if:
✔ Annual turnover below ₹12 lakhs
✔ Petty food manufacturers (home-based, small-scale producers)
✔ Small retailers, hawkers, or temporary stall owners
✔ Dairy units (up to 500L milk/day or 2.5MT milk solids/year)
Exemptions:

✔ Annual turnover between ₹12 lakhs – ₹20 crores
✔ Manufacturers, processors, storage units
✔ Mid-sized restaurants, hotels, caterers
✔ Retail chains, distributors, transporters
Required if:
✔ Annual turnover above ₹20 crores
✔ Importers/exporters of food products
✔ Large manufacturers, 100% export-oriented units
✔ E-commerce food suppliers (like Swiggy, Zomato, cloud kitchens)
